Meet the DJs’

Willy Quirk

Willy has been performing as a DJ/MC now for 28 years, originally starting when he was 16 years old, doing the odd disco at the local youth club with a friend, then taking it up, more seriously when he was 18 years old, doing the warm-up for Mike Perry, at the Grasmere Hotel, which used to be to the right of the Palace Hotel & Casino, now of course, it is no longer there. During the last 2.8 decades, he has worked in most, if not all the function venues on the Island, and a few places in England, namely, Southport, Brighton and even Solihull in the West Midlands. At the moment we spend a lot of our working time at one of the Islands top Hotel Complexes, but we are still available for other work, so don’t forget to give us a call, we might be able to help.

This is one job where commitment is a ‘must have’ quality. Also it is a job that does not have a “sick pay scheme” trust me, in this job, if you don’t work, you don’t get paid. You can read all the ‘How to be a DJ’ books in the world, and they won’t tell you that. Incidentally, I find a lot of these books to be total rubbish, so don’t waste your money. If you want to become a DJ/MC and really learn how it is done, meet up with a DJ that has been performing for a while; there are still some of us about.

Sam Palmer

We would like to welcome Sam to the team, Sam is very keen to get involved with DJing, and has also shown an interest in Internet Radio.

He seems very confident when it comes to mic work, we will see how that progresses

He is also in the process of having a small recording studio set up in his home.

Latest news on Sam’s career: he has become a massive hit with the young ladies (no surprises there)

Also he is good to “get out there” with the microphone.

So everything is looking good.

We’ll keep you posted over the coming months.

Update: 1/1/12

Sam has had a very enjoyable few months working with us, specially over the Christmas holiday period

Obviously, he is unable to attend every function, as his school work will always take priority.

Willy
